Last week Friday, the varsity Boys soccer team travelled to the 11th annual Marc Garneau Champions Cup Indoor Soccer Tournament.  This was Dante's 9th time in the tournament in which they won the Champions Cup in 2008, 2209, 2014 and last year 2016.  Not knowing what to expect this year, the boys were ready to bring home another Champions Cup.  During the round robin games, Dante outhustled and outplayed their opponents, Forest Hill, Pine Ridge, and Earl Haig "B".  The boys outscored their opponents by scoring 14 goals and only allowing 3 goals against.  Dante finished first in their division and moved on to the playoffs.  Dante played Earl Haig A int he quarter final game and fell behind by 1 goal.  The boys did not quit and scored to tie the game before time had expired.

Dante won the game in penalty kicks, 5-4.  Moving on into the semi-final game against Neil McNeil, the boys knew that one more win would put them into the finals.  With a superb effort, the boys won their semi-final game by a score of 4-0.  It now came to the final game against Bloor Collegiate.  Dante, once again, outhustled their opponent and won the game 6-0.  Dante came home with the Champions Cup, for the second year in a row and each student received a gold medal for their efforts.

Mr. Turco and Mr. Sampogna would like to congratulate the boys for a very existing display of excellent soccer and especially the sportsmanship exhibited in all the games.  Excellent victory boys, we are proud of your accomplishment in this tournament.
