Congratulations to the Junior and Senior Girls Volleyball team for their wins over the St. Mary Huskies in league play last night.

The juniors rebounded from their previously lost and beat St.Marys in straight sets. The junior girls record now stands at 4-1. A special mention to Daniela, Me-Kee-Sha, and Jessie who played well in both games. As well as Chantal who provided a lot of moral support.

It was a very exciting game and gritty match with the seniors. The senior girls came back in the second set to force a third set and convincingly won it. They finally began to play to their potential. The senior girls record now stands at 3-2.

EARTHQUAKE IN HAITI

DATE: January 12, 2011

Today is the one year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti. During that year, the lives of many Haitians has not improved, and in many cases, their lives are more difficult that they were at the beginning of the year that has passed. Today, Me-To-We @Dante want to bear witness to some of the terrible problems that the people of Haiti are facing today.

· On January 12, 2010, Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, was hit by a devastating earthquake.
· The country was slowly recovering from the earthquake, when in October, 2010, there was a severe outbreak of the deadly disease Cholera, which killed more than 2,500 people.
· Most people live now in temporary shelters in camps. Their food and water come from aid workers, and there is poor sanitation and disease.
· In the midst of the Cholera outbreak, Haiti witnessed controversial elections which caused violence, and political uncertainty.
· The People of Haiti need safe places to live, leadership and a chance to feed themselves and to create jobs to support their families and to rebuild their country.
· We all need to keep the people of Haiti in our prayers.

Thank you
Ms. Saunders

SENIOR & JUNIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL TEAMS

DATE: January 12, 2011

Congratulations to the Senior and Junior Volleyball teams last night in league play against a very good Charbonnel team.

The Junior girls remain undefeated at 3-0! The gym was a very hostile environment with many supportive and loud Charbonnel students. However, the senior girls provided much needed noise and spirit and were able to drown out the home court advantage. The Junior girls won the first set, lost the second, and were able to put away Charbonnel in the final set 15 to 9. Special mention to Sarah, Courtney, and Katherine for spectacular serving as well as Priscilla and Kimberly for great passing. This is the first time the Junior girls have beaten Charbonnel in two years.

The Senior girls played a hard fought game. After losing the first set, the Senior girls were able to come back to win the second set, 25-22. The game came down to the 3rd set. The Senior girls were down by 6 points early but managed to crawl back from behind to tie it before losing 15 -12. It was a strong effort and the game could have gone either way. A special mention to Steph for amazing serving and emma for her timely hitting. The Senior girls record now stand at 2-1.

Thanks
Mr. Finnison
