HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH: Panama

Hispanic Heritage Month: Panama Panama is located south of Costa Rica and north of Colombia, although Spanish is the official and dominant language. English is a common second language. Panama is rich in folklore and popular traditions. One of the most popular celebrations is Carnival which celebrated throughout the country in the month of February. In 1846, Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela signed a treaty allowing the US to construct a railway to connect the Pacific and the Atlantic Oceans, and granted them free transit with the right to protect the railway with military force The Panama Canal is a worldwide known landmark. It is 80 Km long and, at the present time, it provides easy and reliable crossings from one ocean to the other for more than 750 thousands vessels.
