Last week Friday our varsity boys' soccer team participated in the Marc Garneau Champions' Cup with fifteen other schools. This is the second year in the row that Dante entered the tournament. Dante took the round robin games with ease and came first in their division by outscoring their opponents 19 goals to only giving up 2 goals. The first game Dante won 4-0 against Marshall McLuhan. In the second game Dante won 5-1 against Riverdale. In the third game Dante won 6-0 against Marc Garneau and in the final game of the round robin Dante won 4-1 against Danforth Tech. In the quarter final game Dante won 4-1 and in the semi-final game Dante continued with a strong game to win 3-0. The only game that Dante had some trouble was the final game against Jean Vanier but Hayden Clark scored to tie the game with only 2 minutes left. It was now down to a shoot out and each team went through their five shooters but Dante came out victorious with the tenth shooter Raemon Mendoza scoring the game winner. Dante won the championship for the second year in a row. The coaches Turco, Matiitchik, Festa, and Martinuzzi would like to congratulate the following players: Domenico Rosso, Abiel Rodriguez, Daniel Clemente, Brandon Gomes, Lamar Powel, Raemon Mendoza, Derrick Amankwa, Reggie Amankwa, Pedro Santos, Hayden Clark, Sergio Marin, Steven Pereira, and Pedro Dias for their outstanding commitment and hard work in all the games won. If you see any of the above mentioned students, please congratulate them for winning their second championship in three years.
